How it
どう鳴るのか。
The Air75 is what happens when someone applies enthusiast construction to a laptop-thin keyboard. It is gasket-mounted with foam inside, in a case only a few millimetres deep, and it sounds far more controlled than a low-profile board has any right to.
What it cannot escape is the travel. At around 3.5 mm the V3's switches travel further than most low-profile switches, but the case has almost no internal volume, so there is very little low end available. The result is a quick, light, tightly-packed patter — closer to fast rain than to a knock. The Red Nano is the brightest of the three, the Brown Nano adds a bump you can hear as well as feel, and the Blush Nano is silenced and lands as a soft pad.
It is a genuinely distinctive sound rather than a compromised one, and it is the closest thing to a MacBook keyboard that is still recognisably mechanical.

The board is hot-swappable but only within a narrow ecosystem: Gateron low-profile 3.0 and NuPhy's own Panda nano switches, not standard MX switches, which are far too tall for the case.

Is the NuPhy Air75 quiet enough for an office?
The Blush Nano version is, comfortably — it is a silenced switch with dampening pads that absorb both ends of the travel. The Red and Brown versions are quieter than a full-height mechanical board but still clearly audible, and the short travel makes them sound busy rather than loud. In a shared room the Blush is the version to order.
How does the NuPhy Air75 compare to a MacBook keyboard?
It is the natural upgrade from one. The travel is roughly three times longer, so there is real feedback where a MacBook has almost none, and it is a proper mechanical switch rather than a rubber dome. It is also unmistakably louder. If you like the MacBook form factor and want feedback without moving to a full-height board, this is the category the Air75 invented.
Can I put normal mechanical switches in a NuPhy Air75?
No. Standard MX switches are far too tall for a case this thin. The Air75 takes Gateron low-profile 3.0 switches and NuPhy's own Panda nano switches, and nothing else. It is still hot-swappable within that ecosystem, so you can change the feel — you just have a much smaller catalogue to choose from than a full-height board.
