How it
どう鳴るのか。
Where the Air75 is quick and light by necessity, the Halo75 is deep on purpose. It is a full-height gasket-mounted board with a multi-layer foam stack, and the whole design is pointed at the low, rounded sound that low-profile keyboards physically cannot make.
The linear version lands as a full clack with real weight behind it and very little ring — this is a board that sounds tuned rather than accidental. The tactile version keeps the same body and adds a defined bump partway down, which reads as a sharper attack over the same low foundation.
Against a Keychron Q1 it is lighter, because plastic rather than a kilo and a half of aluminium, but it is in the same conversation, which is not something most boards at this price manage.

A full-height 75% board with a gasket mount and several layers of internal foam — typically a plate foam, a PCB foam, and a bottom-case layer, each doing a different job. Standard MX-height hot-swap sockets, so unlike the Air series the entire switch catalogue is available. Doubleshot keycaps and screw-in stabilisers round out a spec sheet aimed squarely at how the board sounds.

What is the difference between the NuPhy Halo75 and the Air75?
Height, and everything that follows from it. The Air75 is a low-profile board with about 3.5 mm of travel and almost no internal volume, so it sounds quick and light. The Halo75 is full-height with standard MX switches and a proper foam stack, so it sounds deep and full. They are the same size on the desk and completely different keyboards to listen to.
Does the NuPhy Halo75 need modding to sound good?
No, which is unusual at the price. It ships gasket-mounted with a multi-layer foam stack already in place, so the things people normally add to a budget board are done at the factory. The usual next step is heavier keycaps rather than anything internal.
Can I use standard mechanical switches in a Halo75?
Yes. Unlike the low-profile Air series, the Halo75 uses standard MX-height hot-swap sockets, so the full switch catalogue is open to it. That makes it a much better platform if you expect to change the sound later, since the switch is the one variable you can revisit without buying a new board.
